The Affordable Drugs (AD) program now offers twice as many antibacterials as it did in March 2026.

Ukraine’s national reimbursement scheme allows patients to receive essential medicines free of charge or with a partial co-payment via electronic prescription.

As of 31 March 2026, Ukrainians can now access ofloxacin, amoxicillin, metronidazole, and ciprofloxacin for the treatment of infectious diseases and their complications — with amoxicillin and ofloxacin appearing in the program for the very first time as active substances.

New NCD Entries

Apart from a significant extension of its coverage of communicable diseases, several groups of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have also been addressed with new entries:

  1. Neurology — levetiracetam (epilepsy) and levodopa/carbidopa (Parkinson’s disease)
  2. Cardiology — telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide, indapamide, hydrochlorothiazide, spironolactone, torasemide, and acetylsalicylic acid
  3. Endocrine disorders — metformin for type 2 diabetes

It is also worth noting an extension of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) coverage, with new brand of folic acid joining the list on April 2026. As an active substance, folic acid made it first entry into the AD list not that far ago – September 2026.

Folic acid is essential for the prevention of neural tube defects (NTDs) and is recommended for women planning a pregnancy and throughout the first trimester.
