In October 2026, Lviv hosted a landmark Pan-Ukrainian Congress on Physical Rehabilitation, bringing together around 500 experts to discuss priorities of Physical Rehabilitation in Ukraine.
Key topics included:
- Early rehabilitation – starting physical rehabilitation within the ICU;
- Rehabilitation of the combatants and veterans – working with chronic pain became a priority.
- Quality assessment of the multidisciplinary team – methods and protocols.
- Child rehabilitation, specifically assessment and management of motor disability.
The congress forms part of the ministry of Health’s “Development of the Rehabilitation service in Ukraine” a flagship project focused on strengthening health system’s capacity to respond to the increased demand resulting from the full scale war.
The Congress was organised by the NGO Patients of Ukraine and the Ukrainian National Union of Physical Therapists.
