Trafficking in Persons
Trafficking in persons involves the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of individuals through coercive or deceptive means—such as force, fraud, abduction, or abuse of power—for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation includes sexual exploitation, forced labor, slavery, servitude, or organ removal. Victims’ consent is invalidated by traffickers’ coercive actions. This crime can occur across international borders or within a single country.
