perfidy

Perfidy is the deliberate deception of an adversary by falsely claiming protection under international humanitarian law, with the intent to betray that protection. Examples include feigning negotiations under a flag of truce, pretending to be wounded or sick, or falsely using the emblems of the United Nations, the ICRC, or neutral states. Such acts are prohibited when committed to kill, injure, or capture an adversary.
