Early Warning System

An early warning system is a coordinated set of capacities that generates and disseminates timely, meaningful information to individuals and communities at risk from hazards, enabling them to take appropriate action before a disaster strikes to reduce harm to people, livelihoods, property, and the environment, and to prepare for an effective response. It integrates four essential components: risk knowledge, hazard monitoring and analysis, alert communication, and local response capabilities.
