Severe Local Storm

A severe local storm is a weather event characterized by a tornado, waterspout, or thunderstorm producing surface winds of at least 50 knots (25 m/s) or hail with a diameter of ¾ inch (20 mm) or larger. Such storms typically cause substantial wind damage, such as numerous downed trees, and may also result in large hail.
