DDR(R)
DDR(R) refers to a set of integrated programs in peacekeeping contexts aimed at transitioning ex-combatants from war to peace. Disarmament involves collecting and managing weapons. Demobilization downsizes or disbands armed forces, providing compensation and support for civilian transition. Reintegration offers economic and social assistance, such as cash, training, or income projects. Resettlement places ex-combatants in their home country or abroad. Repatriation returns them to their country of origin. Rehabilitation provides psychosocial counseling, especially for child soldiers, to help them resume normal life.
