IOM
Organization: International Organization for Migration
About
IOM was founded in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration and became a related organization within the UN system in 2016. It works in more than 170 countries across emergency response, displacement tracking, migration health, counter-trafficking, labour migration governance, and return and reintegration programming. IOM leads the Shelter/NFI Cluster and CCCM (Camp Coordination and Camp Management) Cluster in many humanitarian settings.
IOM Ukraine operates one of the agency’s largest global country programmes. Key activities include co-leading the Shelter/NFI Cluster, managing the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) — the primary source of IDP movement data used by all humanitarian actors — distributing non-food items and shelter repair kits, operating transit centres, providing livelihood support, and running Return and Reintegration programmes for people wishing to return to liberated areas. IOM’s DTM data is a critical planning tool for organizations targeting displaced populations, including those served by CARE’s CVA health voucher programme.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the UN migration agency, working to promote orderly and humane migration governance and providing direct assistance to migrants, IDPs, and displaced populations worldwide. IOM implements programmes across shelter, WASH, protection, NFI distribution, and displacement tracking.
