Organization: Welthungerhilfe
About
Welthungerhilfe is one of Germany’s largest private aid organizations, dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty worldwide. Founded in 1962, it works on the principle of helping people help themselves, implementing projects in over 30 countries to improve food security, livelihoods, and resilience.
In Ukraine, Welthungerhilfe has been active since 2014, initially focusing on conflict-affected communities in the east. Following the escalation in 2022, it expanded its operations to provide emergency food assistance, cash transfers, shelter repairs, and winterization support to vulnerable populations across the country.
Since the full-scale war began, Welthungerhilfe has reached hundreds of thousands of people with life-saving aid, including food parcels, hygiene kits, and multi-purpose cash assistance. Its rapid response and long-term commitment underscore its role as a key humanitarian actor in Ukraine.
