Organization: Right to Protection

About

Right to Protection (R2P) is a Ukrainian non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Its global mission is to ensure that every individual forced to flee their home has access to protection, legal aid, and durable solutions, in line with international human rights and refugee law.

In Ukraine, R2P operates a network of legal aid centers and mobile teams providing free legal assistance, documentation support, and psychosocial counseling to conflict-affected populations. The organization focuses on protection monitoring, advocacy for policy change, and capacity building for local authorities and civil society. Since 2014, R2P has been a key actor in responding to the humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine and Crimea.

Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, R2P has scaled up its emergency response, reaching over 100,000 beneficiaries with legal aid, protection services, and cash assistance. The organization actively documents human rights violations, supports evacuation efforts, and advocates for the rights of IDPs and war-affected communities. R2P’s work has been instrumental in shaping Ukraine’s national protection framework and ensuring accountability for violations.
