PUI
Organization: Première Urgence Internationale
About
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and non-religious international aid organization. Its mission is to provide emergency relief to populations affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, and economic crises, and to support them in their recovery and development. PUI operates in over 20 countries, focusing on integrated approaches that combine health, nutrition, water and sanitation, shelter, food security, and protection.
In Ukraine, PUI has been active since 2014, initially responding to the conflict in the east. Following the escalation in February 2022, PUI rapidly scaled up its operations. The organization implements integrated programs in health, protection, WASH, shelter, and livelihoods, with a focus on vulnerable populations including internally displaced persons (IDPs), the elderly, and people with disabilities. PUI works in both government-controlled areas and near the frontlines, providing mobile clinics, rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure, and distribution of essential items.
Since the full-scale war, PUI has reached over 500,000 people with humanitarian assistance. In 2023, PUI provided over 100,000 medical consultations, rehabilitated 50 collective shelters, and distributed 20,000 hygiene kits. The organization continues to adapt its response to the evolving needs, including winterization support and mental health services. PUI is committed to staying and delivering in hard-to-reach areas, ensuring aid reaches the most affected communities.
