NP
Organization: Nonviolent Peaceforce
About
Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a global civilian protection organization dedicated to protecting civilians in violent conflicts through unarmed strategies. Founded in 2002, NP works to build peace and protect human rights by deploying unarmed civilian peacekeepers to conflict zones, fostering dialogue, and supporting local peace initiatives.
In Ukraine, NP has been active since 2014, focusing on protecting civilians affected by the conflict in the east. Their programs include unarmed civilian protection, monitoring ceasefires, supporting community security, and providing psychosocial support. NP works closely with local communities and authorities to enhance safety and promote peaceful coexistence.
Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, NP has expanded its emergency response, providing direct protection to vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons and those in frontline areas. Their teams conduct protective presence, accompany civilians to safe zones, and facilitate access to humanitarian aid. NP’s unarmed approach has proven effective in reducing violence and building trust among conflicting parties.
