Malteser International is the worldwide relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Its mission is to provide emergency relief and rehabilitation to people affected by disasters, conflicts, and poverty, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. Operating in over 30 countries, the organization focuses on health, water and sanitation, food security, and livelihood support, with a strong commitment to upholding human dignity.

In Ukraine, Malteser International has been active since 2014, initially supporting internally displaced persons and conflict-affected communities in the east. Following the escalation of the war in February 2022, the organization scaled up its operations significantly. Current programs include emergency medical assistance, provision of clean water and hygiene kits, winterization support, shelter repairs, and cash assistance for vulnerable households. The organization works through local partners and its own teams in areas such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv.

Since the full-scale invasion, Malteser International has reached over 500,000 people with life-saving aid. In 2023 alone, the organization provided over 100,000 medical consultations, distributed 50,000 hygiene kits, and repaired shelters for 10,000 people. Its rapid emergency response includes mobile health units, psychological support, and logistics support for humanitarian convoys. Malteser International remains committed to staying and delivering in the most affected regions, adapting its response to the evolving needs of the Ukrainian people.
