MdM
Organization: Médecins du Monde
About
Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization founded in 1980 by a group of French doctors. Its mission is to provide medical care to the most vulnerable populations worldwide, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliations. MdM operates in over 80 countries, focusing on improving access to healthcare, strengthening health systems, and advocating for the right to health for all.
In Ukraine, Médecins du Monde has been active since 2014, initially responding to the conflict in the eastern regions. The organization runs comprehensive health programs, including primary healthcare, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), reproductive health services, and protection activities. MdM also provides essential medicines, medical supplies, and supports mobile medical units to reach conflict-affected communities in frontline areas.
Since the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, MdM has scaled up its emergency response, deploying emergency medical teams, supporting hospitals and clinics, and distributing hygiene kits and non-food items. The organization has reached over 500,000 people with health services and continues to adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of internally displaced persons and host communities across Ukraine.
