Organization: Mercy Corps
About
Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian organization founded in 1979, with a mission to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Operating in over 40 countries, Mercy Corps delivers emergency relief and long-term development programs, focusing on empowering local communities to recover from crises and build resilience.
In Ukraine, Mercy Corps has been active since 2014, initially providing humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected populations in the east. Following the escalation of the war in February 2022, Mercy Corps rapidly scaled up its response, working with local partners to deliver multi-sectoral aid across the country, including in frontline areas and regions hosting internally displaced persons.
Mercy Corps’ Ukraine response has reached over 2 million people with critical support, including food, cash assistance, shelter repairs, winterization supplies, and psychosocial support. The organization prioritizes reaching the most vulnerable, such as elderly, people with disabilities, and families with children, while also supporting local businesses and agricultural livelihoods to sustain economic stability.
