MAG
Organization: Mines Advisory Group
About
MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is a global humanitarian and development organization that saves lives and builds futures by reducing the devastating impact of armed violence and landmines. Operating in over 30 countries, MAG works to clear landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other explosive remnants of war, enabling communities to reclaim their land and rebuild their lives.
In Ukraine, MAG has been active since 2014, responding to the contamination from landmines and unexploded ordnance resulting from the conflict in the east. Following the full-scale invasion in 2022, MAG rapidly scaled up its operations, deploying teams to conduct non-technical and technical surveys, clearance, and risk education. MAG works in close coordination with national authorities and other humanitarian actors to address the widespread contamination affecting civilian populations.
MAG’s impact in Ukraine includes clearing thousands of square meters of land, destroying thousands of explosive items, and delivering risk education to hundreds of thousands of people. In 2022 alone, MAG reached over 200,000 people with life-saving risk education messages. The organization continues to expand its operations to meet the growing needs, prioritizing the most affected regions and supporting the safe return of displaced populations.
