About
Kindernothilfe e.V. is a German non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in some of the world’s poorest communities. Founded in 1959, the organization works to ensure children’s rights to education, health, protection, and participation, focusing on sustainable development and community-based approaches.
In Ukraine, Kindernothilfe has been active since 2014, initially supporting internally displaced persons and children affected by the conflict in the east. Following the escalation of the war in 2022, the organization expanded its programs to provide emergency aid, including child protection services, psychosocial support, education in emergencies, and distribution of essential items such as food, hygiene kits, and winter supplies.
Through partnerships with local organizations, Kindernothilfe has reached thousands of children and families across Ukraine, with a focus on the most vulnerable, including those in frontline areas and collective shelters. The organization’s response emphasizes child protection, mental health support, and ensuring access to education, while also addressing immediate needs for food, water, and shelter.
