About

INTERSOS is an independent, non-profit humanitarian organization that provides life-saving assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, and exclusion. Founded in 1992, its mission is to ensure the protection and dignity of vulnerable populations, with a focus on the most marginalized, including refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities. Operating in over 20 countries, INTERSOS delivers integrated emergency response and long-term recovery programs.

In Ukraine, INTERSOS has been active since 2014, initially responding to the conflict in the east. Following the escalation in February 2022, the organization rapidly scaled up its operations, establishing a presence in Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv. Its programs focus on protection, health, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), water and sanitation, shelter, and distribution of essential non-food items. INTERSOS works in close coordination with local authorities, UN agencies, and other humanitarian actors.

Since 2022, INTERSOS has reached over 500,000 people in Ukraine with emergency assistance, including cash and voucher assistance, protection services, and primary healthcare. The organization has also supported collective centers and provided winterization kits to vulnerable households. Its rapid response teams have been deployed to hard-hit areas, ensuring timely delivery of aid to communities affected by ongoing hostilities.
