Organization: HD Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue

About

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a private diplomacy organization founded in 1999, dedicated to preventing and resolving armed conflicts through mediation and dialogue. Its global mission is to reduce violence and promote peace by facilitating negotiations between warring parties, supporting humanitarian access, and strengthening conflict resolution mechanisms worldwide.

In Ukraine, HD has been active since 2014, focusing on mediation and dialogue initiatives to support conflict resolution in the eastern regions. The organization works with local and international stakeholders to foster communication, de-escalate tensions, and promote humanitarian principles. HD’s programs include facilitating prisoner exchanges, supporting civilian protection mechanisms, and engaging in track 1.5 and track 2 diplomacy.

Since the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, HD has intensified its efforts, facilitating humanitarian corridors, supporting the evacuation of civilians, and mediating agreements on safe passage. The organization has also contributed to the exchange of prisoners and the return of bodies, helping to reduce the human toll of the war. HD’s impact is measured by its ability to maintain dialogue channels and achieve tangible humanitarian outcomes in a highly volatile environment.
