Organization: Global Communities
About
Global Communities is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1952, the organization’s mission is to create long-lasting, positive impact by partnering with local communities, governments, and the private sector to address critical challenges such as poverty, inequality, and conflict.
In Ukraine, Global Communities has been active since 2014, initially focusing on economic recovery and community development in the eastern regions. Following the escalation of conflict in 2022, the organization rapidly scaled up its humanitarian response, providing emergency assistance including shelter repairs, winterization support, cash assistance, and access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Programs also address protection concerns, particularly for vulnerable groups such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, and children.
Since the full-scale invasion, Global Communities has reached over 1 million people across Ukraine with life-saving aid. The organization’s integrated approach combines emergency relief with long-term recovery, supporting local communities to rebuild and strengthen resilience. Recent efforts include multi-purpose cash assistance, rehabilitation of collective centers, and psychosocial support services, ensuring that affected populations can meet their basic needs and regain stability.
