About

The Estonian Refugee Council (ERC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the rights and improving the well-being of refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable populations globally. Founded in 2000, ERC provides humanitarian aid, supports integration, and advocates for inclusive policies, operating with a mission to ensure that displaced persons have access to safety, dignity, and opportunities for self-reliance.

In Ukraine, ERC has been active since 2014, initially focusing on supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Following the full-scale invasion in 2022, ERC expanded its operations significantly, implementing programs in protection, livelihoods, education, shelter, and food security. Key activities include providing cash assistance, psychosocial support, legal aid, and winterization supplies, with a strong presence in Kharkiv, Dnipro, and other frontline areas.

Since 2022, ERC has reached over 200,000 people in Ukraine with emergency and recovery assistance. The organization’s rapid response includes multi-purpose cash transfers, shelter repairs, and educational support for children affected by the war. ERC also works to strengthen local capacities and coordinates with Ukrainian authorities and international partners to address the evolving needs of conflict-affected communities.
