About

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading international humanitarian organization founded in 1956, mandated to protect and promote durable solutions for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and migrants worldwide. Operating in over 40 countries, DRC delivers emergency response, protection, and livelihood support, advocating for the rights of displaced populations.

In Ukraine, DRC has been active since 2014, initially focusing on protection and humanitarian assistance for conflict-affected populations in the east. Following the full-scale invasion in 2022, DRC scaled up operations across the country, providing emergency shelter, cash assistance, legal aid, and psychosocial support to IDPs and war-affected communities.

DRC’s impact in Ukraine includes reaching over 1 million people with multi-purpose cash assistance, shelter repairs, and protection services. In 2023, DRC expanded its logistics capacity to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to hard-to-reach areas near the frontlines, while continuing to advocate for the rights of displaced persons and supporting local authorities in emergency response.
