CARITAS

Organization: Caritas Norway

About

Caritas Norway is part of the global Caritas network, one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, operating in over 200 countries and territories. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, Caritas’s mission is to serve the poor, promote justice, and uphold human dignity. The organization works to address the root causes of poverty and injustice, providing emergency relief and long-term development assistance to vulnerable communities regardless of religion, race, or ethnicity.

In Ukraine, Caritas Norway supports the broader Caritas response, which includes Caritas Ukraine and Caritas-Spes. Programs focus on emergency assistance, protection, health, shelter, water and sanitation, livelihoods, and education. Since the escalation of the conflict in 2022, Caritas has scaled up operations across the country, reaching millions with humanitarian aid, including cash assistance, food, hygiene kits, and psychosocial support.

Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Caritas has provided life-saving assistance to over 1.5 million people in Ukraine. The organization has established humanitarian hubs in key locations, delivered winterization supplies, and supported internally displaced persons. Caritas continues to adapt its response to meet evolving needs, including mine action awareness and long-term recovery efforts.
