About

CARE International is a major humanitarian organization founded in 1945, dedicated to fighting global poverty and providing emergency relief. Its mission is to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice, with a particular focus on empowering women and girls. CARE operates in over 100 countries, delivering long-term development programs and emergency response.

In Ukraine, CARE has been active since 2014, initially focusing on supporting internally displaced persons and conflict-affected communities. Following the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, CARE scaled up its operations significantly. Its programs include emergency cash assistance, food and hygiene kits, protection services, and support for women-led organizations. CARE works through local partners to reach vulnerable populations, especially women, children, and the elderly.

Since the full-scale war began, CARE has reached over 1 million people in Ukraine with life-saving assistance. The organization focuses on multi-purpose cash assistance, winterization support, and psychosocial services. CARE also advocates for the specific needs of women and girls in the conflict, ensuring gender-sensitive humanitarian action. Its rapid response mechanism allows for flexible funding to address emerging needs.
