CAFOD

Organization: Catholic Agency For Overseas Development

About

CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, working globally to tackle poverty, injustice, and the effects of climate change. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, CAFOD partners with local organizations in over 40 countries to deliver humanitarian assistance and long-term development, advocating for systemic change to build a just and sustainable world.

In Ukraine, CAFOD has been active since 2014, initially supporting conflict-affected communities in the east. Following the full-scale invasion in 2022, CAFOD scaled up its response through local partners, providing emergency food, water, shelter, and psychosocial support to internally displaced people and vulnerable households across the country, including in frontline areas.

Since February 2022, CAFOD has reached over 500,000 people with life-saving aid, including cash assistance, winterization supplies, and protection services. The agency continues to adapt its programs to meet evolving needs, focusing on the most vulnerable, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and women-headed households, while also supporting community resilience and recovery.
