About
ASB (Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland) is a German aid and welfare organization founded in 1888. Its global mission is to provide emergency medical services, social welfare, and international humanitarian assistance, guided by the principles of solidarity, humanity, and impartiality. ASB operates in over 20 countries, focusing on disaster response, rehabilitation, and long-term development.
In Ukraine, ASB has been active since 2014, initially supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and conflict-affected communities in the east. Following the escalation in 2022, ASB expanded its programs to include emergency shelter, cash assistance, protection services, and psychosocial support. The organization works in partnership with local authorities and civil society to deliver aid in frontline areas and host communities.
Since February 2022, ASB has reached over 500,000 people with life-saving assistance, including winterization supplies, hygiene kits, and legal aid. Its rapid response teams have provided emergency medical care and evacuation support in high-risk zones. ASB continues to adapt its programs to meet evolving needs, such as supporting energy resilience and mine risk education.
