About
Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is a German aid and welfare organization founded in 1888. Its mission is to provide emergency medical services, social welfare, and humanitarian aid worldwide, based on the principles of solidarity, humanity, and impartiality. ASB operates in over 20 countries, focusing on disaster response, rehabilitation, and long-term development.
In Ukraine, ASB has been active since 2014, initially supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and conflict-affected communities in the east. Following the full-scale invasion in 2022, ASB expanded its operations across the country, implementing projects in shelter repair, winterization, water and sanitation, protection, and livelihoods. Key activities include distributing hygiene kits, repairing damaged homes, providing cash assistance, and supporting collective centers for displaced people.
Since 2022, ASB has reached over 500,000 people with emergency aid, including shelter materials, clean water, and psychosocial support. The organization works in close coordination with local authorities and partners to address urgent needs, especially in frontline areas. ASB’s response is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, the European Union, and private donations, ensuring rapid and effective assistance to the most vulnerable populations.
