Organization: Action Against Hunger
About
Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that leads the fight against hunger. Founded in 1979, its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations. The organization works in over 50 countries, focusing on nutrition, food security, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), health, and livelihoods.
In Ukraine, Action Against Hunger has been operational since 2014, providing critical assistance to conflict-affected populations. Its programs include emergency food distributions, cash transfers, nutrition support for children and mothers, and WASH interventions to ensure access to clean water and sanitation facilities. The organization works in frontline areas and with internally displaced persons (IDPs) across the country.
Since the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, Action Against Hunger has scaled up its response, reaching over 1.5 million people with life-saving aid. It has provided emergency food and cash assistance, repaired water infrastructure, and supported health facilities. The organization continues to adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of the most vulnerable communities affected by the war.
