Iron Curtain

The symbolic and physical boundary dividing Europe into Western and Eastern blocs during the Cold War, representing the ideological and political separation between capitalist democracies led by the United States and communist states under Soviet control. Coined by Winston Churchill, the term later inspired ‘Bamboo Curtain’ for a similar divide in Asia.
