Humanitarian Coordination
A strategic approach ensuring that emergency responses are coherent and collaborative, maximizing effectiveness and minimizing risks. In each country, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator leads coordination of UN humanitarian efforts. During crises, a designated agency oversees response coordination according to established policies and structures, working with partners inside and outside the UN system. This includes developing joint strategies, assessing needs, planning actions, monitoring progress, adjusting programs, convening coordination meetings, mobilizing resources, addressing shared challenges, and managing coordination tools—without directly administering aid.
