Double Standards

Double standards refer to the application of different sets of principles or rules to similar situations, often based on the identity or interests of the parties involved. For example, a powerful state may overlook violations by its allies while condemning similar actions by adversaries. This inconsistency is frequently observed in international relations, where geopolitical interests override universal norms, such as when a country supports democratic values abroad but tolerates authoritarian regimes that serve its strategic goals.
