Changes in natural or human systems made to address actual or anticipated climate conditions or their impacts, aiming to reduce harm or take advantage of positive opportunities. These adjustments can happen spontaneously, such as through market shifts, or be driven by deliberate policies and plans. Many disaster risk reduction efforts directly support adaptation.
