Human Rights

Human rights are fundamental entitlements inherent to all individuals by virtue of their humanity, grounded in the intrinsic dignity and worth of every person. These rights are universal and inalienable, applying equally without discrimination based on race, gender, language, religion, political opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. They are legally protected through international law, including treaties, customary law, and principles, which obligate states to respect, protect, and fulfill these rights. Human rights law imposes duties on governments to act or refrain from certain actions, safeguarding individuals and groups. These rights are applicable in both peacetime and armed conflict, forming a comprehensive framework that includes civil, political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions, as articulated in foundational documents like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenants.
